Fully
triangulated steel space frame chassis with built in roll bar.
The
chassis was designed by qualified structural engineers to provide
a stiff and strong yet light structure using tube with
a wall thickness of 2mm.
Brakes - Disc brakes all round with optional 4 pot front calipers.
Dimensions
Length 3400mm
Width 1725mm
Height 1050mm
Wheel Base 2400mm
Power - Zetec 2000cc 4 cylinder transverse mounted unit mated
to a 5 speed manual transmission. This unit can easily be tuned
up to 175 bhp
but the standard 2.0 will propel the car to 60 in under 5 seconds
so dont be too hasty on opting for tuning upgrades, this is
a light car which means free power.
Donor - A Focus will provide the following donor components:
-
Engine & transmission (1800 or 2000cc), drive shafts & front
hubs, radiator & fan, engine mounts, fuel pump & fuel gauge
sender, number plate lights, bolts & fixings, header tank,
brake fluid reservoir with flexi brake pipes, diagnostic port.
steering column, switch gear, ignition lock & wheel, ECU, complete
with engine bay wiring loom & sensors, rear calipers & discs
(subject to Focus model) hand brake, gear lever cables, exhaust
manifold and CAT, seat belts, wheels & tyres. The dashboard
instruments binnacle can also be used as this is controlled
by the ECU. Easy wiring diagrams are included in the kit.
The rest of the Focus can be easily sold on to recoup some
cash. Cheapest donors seem to be the less desirable estates
or 4 door
saloons. Anything with under say 90k miles are generally ideal
and good value.
