New from Mills Extreme Vehicles Ltd is an electronic switch
and control panel designed to help the kit car builder. MEV,
and no doubt many other kit car manufacturers, often hear of
customers concerns over their ability to wire a car. This has
led MEV to develop an electronic solution.
Conventional relays and bases, tell-tale lamps, flasher units
and complex hazard warning switches are out of the window. In
comes a state of the art printed circuit board with all the complicated
connections that lead to breakdowns or even nervous breakdowns,
gone for good. There is a high risk of failure on the part of
the kit car builder when it comes to the black art of auto electrics
coupled with the limited choice of often dated looking switches
and tell-tale lamps. These areas have now been addressed with
the introduction of the E-DASH. Frustrations associated with
accidentally inserting a pin into the wrong hole on a relay base
are now a thing of the past, what’s more is the ease with
which the MEV E-DASH unit is installed, one letter box hole and
hey presto the whole control panel, complete with IVA compliant
warning symbols and lamps is ready to go. Tactile switches control
all the functions with a gentle touch, whilst the smart system
re-sets itself on ignition so that you can’t leave the
lights on by mistake. Hazard warning switch wiring is always
a complex issue, but with the E-DASH all you need to do is push
crimp terminals on the board for each corner of the car. After
market steering wheels can also cause horn button problems, and
so a horn push is built in together with an LED ladder fuel gauge.
The system is engineered to split various loads through appropriately
sized fuses for both ignition on and ignition off circuits. So
that’s your car wiring sorted, one hole to cut and a hand
full of crimps and potential wiring nightmares are a thing of
the past. Cost wise, its included in the lights/loom price and
is guaranteed to make life easier for you when building your
car.
